CWNE – Certified Wireless Network Expert

This entry is part 1 of 4 in the series CWNE

This one feels different. After almost 10 years of study, personal and professional development, opportunities to work on incredible projects, and collaboration with many like-minded individuals, I’m truly delighted to share that I’ve been awarded the title of Certified Wireless Network Expert (CWNE).

A huge thank you to the CWNP board and the individual contributors who uphold the program’s core values, review applications, and ensure the process remains rigorous and fair — underlining the effort required to achieve this qualification.

It’s an honour to be part of such a unique and inspiring community, and I look forward to continuing to contribute for many years to come.

Like many before me, I also plan to share all three of my CWNE technical essays, in the hope they will help others just as previous CWNEs’ essays helped me along my journey.

And if I could offer one piece of advice to anyone thinking about, or currently writing, their own application, it would be something I first heard from Stephen Cooper: “Remember, the people reviewing your work are experts in their own right — you don’t need to explain how Wi-Fi works!”

You can read about the CWNE certification here, and the full list of requirements and application process here.

Good luck to those on the path — it’s absolutely worth the effort.
