Wi-Fi Design Day 2025 – Shaw Theatre – London

Each year, Ekahau — a leader in Wi-Fi planning, design, surveying, optimisation, and troubleshooting — and Open Reality, a leading UK distributor of wireless solutions, bring together engineers, vendors, technical sales professionals, and business stakeholders for a one-day event dedicated to Wi-Fi design and the evolving shifts in wireless technology. It’s an invaluable opportunity to learn, share experiences, and connect with peers who are shaping the future of connectivity.

The day is always exceptionally well organised and features numerous guest speakers from across the industry, covering a wide range of engaging and thought-provoking topics. To say I felt apprehensive when I first saw the agenda would be an understatement — many of the speakers are people I’ve admired for years and had the privilege of learning from at other events. That said, I could not have felt more welcomed.

This year, I was honoured to present on a topic very close to my heart: the design and commissioning of a new wired and wireless infrastructure at Co-op Live in Manchester.

My session explored how the RIBA Plan of Work aligns with the Wi-Fi Design Lifecycle, highlighting its relevance when constructing large public venues and demonstrating how applied methodologies helped overcome the technical challenges faced during commissioning.

Preparing for this talk was an invaluable experience — one I hope to repeat again in the future — and it marked the perfect conclusion to one of the most exciting, challenging, and rewarding projects of my career to date.

If you’re considering presenting at a conference or sharing with the technical community, I can’t recommend it enough. The time and attention required to craft a presentation not only accelerated my own learning but also became a catalyst for achieving my CWNE qualification. We all have valuable stories to tell, and there’s enormous benefit in sharing our individual experiences — especially the challenges.
